What We Learned From Apple’s New #PrivacyLabels (Brian X. Chen, NYT, 28/01/21)

I find Apple‘s privacy label a great idea, and the way forward to increase the awareness of data protection matters, especially for the public in general. They are easy to find and the information the labels provide is easy to understand, even for a non-technical audience (with some exceptions).

The article I mentioned encouraged me to make my own research on the apps I frequently use. While I’m not in general surprised by the results, I do find startling the fact that:
– Google does not provide any information at all
– Apple does not provide any information of its apps in the Apple store (as the article highlights, you have to look for it in the specific website, which I didn’t do)

The undisputed winner in this competition is Facebook
