The regulation on a EU approach to Artificial Intelligence – official draft

The official Artificial Intelligence Regulation draft (AIRd) was finally released by the European Commission.

It seems that the leaked version was an early draft since the official version was substantially modified.

Among the main differences I found in both versions are:
– HRAIS providers must appoint a representative when they are established abroad
– sanctions:
–> €30M or 6% TWAT for incurring in prohibited #artificialintelligence practices (a5) or non-compliance with obligations concerning data governance (a10)
–> €10M or 2% TWAT for providing incorrect, incomplete or misleading information to authorities or conformity assessment bodies
–> €20M or 4% TWAT for non-compliance with any other obligation

Last week I made a briefing on the leaked draft but considering the extent of the amendments I had to update it accordingly

While there is still a long way to go until it becomes law (if ever) and there may be critics to the project, discussions on the regulation on #AI systems cannot be delayed anymore
