Designating a #DPO is important to ensure compliance with data protection law

There have been several fines for either:
– not appointing a DPO where it is required by law, (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos – AEPD in Glovo, Conseguridad, and Arroyomolinos city council, and The Italian Data Protection Authority in Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico)
– or by not involving the DPO in data protection issues (LUX DPA in Délibération n° 18FR/2021 du 31 mai 2021, via Jimmy Orucevic)

The WP29 issued guidelines on the DPO, which were endorsed by the European Data Protection Board.
