Privacy policies – making them simple
#Privacypolicies are often very long, complex and full of legal jargon. They are drafted for lawyers to lawyers. But this is not their purpose as envisioned in the #GDPR which is to provide relevant information to DS concerning the main aspects of data processing and to allow the effective exercise of their rights.
Their length and complexity cause information fatigue and as somebody said ‘users either don’t read them or lie’.
Acknowledging this phenomenon The Italian Data Protection Authority has launched a contest inviting developers, professionals, experts, lawyers, designers, Uni students and anyone interested, to send a set of symbols or icons capable of representing all the elements that, pursuant to articles 13 and 14 of the GDPR must be contained in the information.
The IT DPA will choose the 3 datasets of symbols and icons that it deems most effective and will make them available on its website to anyone who wants to use them, indicating authorship.
