The Neighbours’ Window (2019)
A short film by Marshall Curry that won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short in 2020
It is the story of a woman (Maria Dizzia) who is frustrated with her daily routine and husband and overwhelmed by her children, but her life has a twist when a young couple moves in across the street and she discovers that she can see into their apartment.
My take of the short is that #privacy is a collective and bidirectional responsibility.
We can’t take for granted that other persons would respect our privacy. So we have to take measures, even minimal, to protect our sacred private life.
On the other hand, the simple fact that we can or we are able to invade others’ private or family life, regardless of whether this conduct will bring legal consequences or not, doesn’t mean that we should do so.
