Nearly 3years ago the #gdpr entered into force.
There is wide consensus concerning its status as the global gold standard for #dataprotection
There are still many points to improve. Both concerning certain provisions that could be improved, but also regarding enforcement.
The imposition of fines isn’t the only way to measure how DPAs monitor #compliance with the GDPR, yet it provides a useful and simple metric to evaluate authorities’ approach to it.
Admittedly, enforcement can be criticized (being the IE DPA the most notable example). However, overall DPAs have been active in monitoring GDPR’s violations:
– 661 fines (50/mo)
– €292.000.000 in fines
