It also implements new measures to keep children out of the platform

After the procedures started by The Italian Data Protection Authority in February, the company implemented security measures to verify the age of minors. Out of 12m users, 500.000 have been removed because they were probably under 13yo.

The social media company has committed to:
– cancel within 48h flagged accounts that after verification there exist reasons to believe that were opened by minors under 13yo
– reinforce the mechanisms to block devices used by minors to try to access the platform
– study and elaborate solutions, also based on AI, to minimise the risks for users under 13yo that use the platform
– launch new educative campaigns for the secure use of the platform and to remind that it is not suitable for #children under 13yo
– create new #privacy policies with clearer language and interactive for users under 13
– share with the IT DPA the information related to the efficacy of these measures
